Doing More of What You Love as a Woman Over 40 and Beyond

Do you ever feel like at this stage of life, our years of responsibilities and hat-wearing have taken precedence over our own desires? As a woman in her now late 40s, it's easy for me, even now, to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Most women often put our own interests on the back burner, and it only becomes more of a habit as we age. Being an older mom (had my son at 41) and now also dealing with the big M in the mix (just pile it on…), only adds to the feeling of 'is this even doable or important at this point?' But what if I told you that now is the perfect time to prioritize doing more of what you love?

Perhaps you've always dreamed of learning a new language, playing a sport (the pickleball craze is a perfect example), learning to play an electric guitar (still my favorite pipe dream and on my bucket list), or like in my case, becoming a self-taught artist and making it a new career (digital art nonetheless!!!). Whatever it may be, now is the time to seize the moment and dive in (or dip your toes if that is what works for you).

As we navigate the challenges and triumphs of this stage in life, it's important to remember that our happiness matters too. Recognizing and embracing your passions not only enriches your life but also serves as a powerful reminder of your own strength and resilience. It also serves those around you (especially your family) more than you realize. Pursuing your interests can bring a newfound sense of fulfillment and joy to your life that also trickles into your relationships.

So please – carve out time to do more of what you love because, Woman, you've more than earned the gift to pursue things that ignite your soul
